Tense moments Wednesday afternoon after a bomb threat to the Elk City Middle School was made.

Superintendent Mike Sparks said out of precaution all students and faculty at the facility along with the school’s daycare center was evacuated to the Pioneer Center on the high school campus.

After a search of the Middle School, Elk City Police gave the “all clear” shortly after 2 p.m.

Sparks told Paragon Communications authorities believe the call was a “swatting call” which is an illegal prank that occurs when someone calls in a fake report to emergency services, accusing another person of a serious crime.
