SWOSU Press Release

Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) with locations in Weatherford, Sayre and Yukon has announced a major charitable gift from longtime SWOSU benefactors Rick and Sheila Koch of Weatherford.

The Kochs’ latest philanthropic investment will benefit the SWOSU Football Legacy Fund which aims to enhance the resources available to the university’s football program.

Rick and Sheila Koch own and operate ASAP Energy, Inc., ASAP General Stores, Ricks Boots & Outfitters, the Weatherford, Oklahoma Holiday Inn Express, and Lucille’s Roadhouse Restaurants.

Rick Koch’s entrepreneurial journey began in 1979 when he opened his first gasoline station, laying the foundation for ASAP Energy, Inc. Since then, the Koch family and their related enterprises have been steadfast supporters of SWOSU by contributing to the growth and success of many programs and by volunteering in a wide variety of capacities.

We are deeply grateful to Rick and Sheila Koch for their generous support of the SWOSU Football Legacy Fund,” said SWOSU President Dr. Diana R. “Diane” Lovell. “The Kochs continue to demonstrate their belief in the partnership between SWOSU and the communities we serve by their generous investment and thoughtful involvement.”

The SWOSU Football Legacy Fund is stewarded by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. The Foundation was established in 1977 to promote philanthropy, award scholarships, and distribute funds to support the activities and programs of SWOSU.
