A Weatherford woman has been charged with child abuse in Custer County District Court after she allegedly assaulted her 15-year-old son.
According to a probable cause affidavit, authorities with the Custer County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a home in a rural part of the county to a report of a possible runaway on December 30. When they arrived they were told by the mother, 38-year-old Jennifer Renee Bridges that her son had run away from the home after he allegedly assaulted her.
Later the boy was located with his older brother. The older brother would tell authorities that the reason the youth had left the home was because Bridges had allegedly assaulted him. The brother would show the deputy pictures of injuries the teen had sustained in the alleged attack which included scratch marks to the boy’s left eye, ear and neck, along with bruises on his arm.
Also it was later discovered that a witness had video of the incident on her cell phone which authorities would later obtain, along with the photographs.
During an interview with deputies, Bridges would say that the two had gotten into an argument and her son had tried to re-enter the home when she allegedly tried to stop him before wrestling and falling to the floor.
Initial bond for Bridges was set at $20,000.
Her next court date is scheduled for February 16.
