An Albuquerque, New Mexico man was arrested by Weatherford police recently after allegedly being under the influence of narcotics while traveling to Arkansas with two juveniles.

According to court records, 33-year-old Andrew Michael Robles was charged with child endangerment by driving under the influence, obstruction, and attempting to elude after being arrested on December 23.

The probable cause affidavit stated that police were dispatched to a convenience store after a 911 call from the store indicated that a child was attempting to get away from the defendant.

When police arrived and made contact with the 10-year-old female, she would tell police that she was on the road trip with her friend, a 12-year-old female, and her father: Robles.

The child would tell police that she feared for her safety saying that she suspected the defendant was using narcotics on the trip. Among other instances, she stated that Robles would allegedly fall asleep while driving.

When police attempted to make contact with the defendant, who was in his pickup at the time, the affidavit stated that Robles would flee the scene with his 12-year-old daughter in the pickup.

After a short pursuit, police were able to make a felony stop on Robles and place him under arrest and was booked into the Weatherford Jail.

A search of the vehicle and Robles would turn up various drug paraphernalia which indicated to police that Robles had allegedly been smoking suspected fentanyl.

Both juveniles were released to family members and were unharmed.

Bond for Robles was set at $25,000.
