Burns Flat’s aerospace business expansion plans are taking flight with the help of an OKC architectural firm.

Housed at Clinton-Sherman Air Force Base, Premium Aerospace Center (PAC) Oklahoma’s mission is to paint and perform maintenance, modifications, and interior upgrades on aircraft.

In July 2022, PAC signed a 20-year lease for two base hangars.

Now PAC is teaming up with Oklahoma City-based Mass Architects to renovate and expand that hangar space in order to refurbish, customize, and fully paint aircraft.

The project will also include an addition for staff and customer areas such as a crew break and training space, showers and locker room, administrative offices, and a customer lounge area,” said Mass Architects Chief Operating Officer Matthew Radcliffe.

PAC chose the OKC firm because Mass Architects has a wide-reaching practice that extends across the state. It has overseen the Oklahoma Capitol Restoration Project, school expansions and an athletic facility in Jay in the east, and a community health center in Guymon in the west.

Mass has maintained a positive reputation for their pragmatic approach to budgets and constructability while delivering final projects that capture the program and mission of their clients without sacrificing good design,” said Jose Gonzalez, PAC Accountable Manager.

Radcliffe says this project requires a $12 million investment in the Burns Flat aerospace business.

The completed facility will allow PAC to close on additional contracts for routine and custom projects, some from significant airlines. “This will help PAC significantly grow its presence in western Oklahoma by providing for increased productivity and, in turn, additional jobs for the community,” Radcliffe said.

PAC will ultimately hire 450 employees. This project alone will require 50 construction workers in Burns Flat for 6-8 months.

Though a conventional approach would make this a 12-month project, PAC hopes to benefit from an expedited construction plan that would greatly reduce that time frame.
