A couple of overnight fires kept local crews busy late Thursday night and early Friday morning.

The first occurred on Interstate 40 near mile marker 20 near Sayre when, for an unknown reason, a semi rolled onto it’s side and caught fire in the eastbound lanes.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at 6:20 p.m. and saw fire crews from Sayre and Delhi battle the blaze that closed down both lanes for nearly 5 and a half hours.

No injuries were reported.

A second fire happened early Friday morning at the King’s Inn Motel in Elk City in the 1900 block of W. 3rd Street.

Elk City Fire Chief Kyle Chervenka said when crews arrived at 1:42 a.m. Friday they found the fire outside of the structure.

Chervenka said the fire was quickly contained and no injuries were reported. He also said the fire does seem suspicious in nature and an investigation is underway.
