Troopers with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said drugs could be to blame for a two vehicle collision in Dewey County on Saturday afternoon that left one man dead.

As a result, that driver has been charged with 1st degree manslaughter.

According to the collision report provided by the OHP, the wreck occurred at 2:44 p.m. Saturday on US-270, one mile north of Oakwood when a 2022 Ram 2500 driven by 32-year-old Nathane L. Emery of Stephenville, Texas was heading northbound when it went left of center, hitting a 2019 Nissan Altima driven by 22-year-old Johnathan Hill of Fort Sill.

The collision caused both vehicles to come to rest in a ditch.

Troopers said Hill was pronounced deceased on the scene of the wreck by Seiling EMS.

Emery, along with two passengers, were treated and released at Seiling Regional Medical Center.

According to the OHP accident report, the driver of the Dodge Ram was suspected of being under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.

According to court records, Emery received the felony manslaughter charge in Dewey County District Court on Tuesday.

Bond was set at $75,000.
