The bond extension proposition presented to Elk City voters Tuesday night got overwhelming support at the ballot box.

Unofficial totals show that the half-cent sales tax that was established to fund the construction of Elk City Elementary, got 85.9% support and will go towards police and fire department infrastructure improvements.

City Manager Tom Ivester says the City Commission has been proactive in taking the next steps towards getting the projects off the ground.

Elsewhere, Weatherford Public School had two bond propositions on the ballot that passed. The now approved funds will go towards land acquisition, new technology, furniture and transportation needs for the district.

The Cordell School District also passed two bond propositions totaling $445,000 which will pay for HVAC replacement and a new activity bus.

Staying in Cordell, Phil Kliewer will serve as mayor after receiving 87% of the vote, and in Erick Judy Mills received 87% of the vote to become mayor.
