February Sales Tax Report Shows Positive Numbers For Area Cities

The latest sales tax report is out and shows that a significant amount of local municipalities are in the black when compared to this time a year ago.

Western Oklahoma communities Elk City and Weatherford were above the $1 million mark once again.

According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission, Elk City was up 7.4% in collections by bringing in over $1.3 million. The City of Weatherford was north of $1 million as well by collecting just over $1.1 million – a 6.6% increase.

Although not above $1 million, the City of Clinton saw a 6.4% increase by collecting a little over $525,000 in sales tax revenue.

Another I-40 community saw an increase in collections as well.

The City of Sayre saw a 1.3% increase in sales tax revenue by bringing in just over $142,000.

Other smaller communities in Western Oklahoma fared well too.

Burns Flat was up after bringing in just under $29,000. Mangum was up 6.9% by accumulating just under $52,000. Cordell was up 7.2% by bringing in over $106,000, and Sentinel saw a significant increase by bringing in over $26,000 – a whopping 46% increase when compared to last year.
