Candidate Filing Begins For Municipal Offices in Washita Co.

Candidates interested in filing for municipal office in 7 Washita County municipalities will file Declarations of Candidacy beginning 8 a.m. Monday, February 6th 2023.

Ashton Hymer Assistant, Secretary of the Washita County Election Board, said Declaration of Candidacy forms must be completed and submitted to the County Election Board no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 8th 2023 when the filing period ends. Hymer reminds voters that Contests of Candidacy must be filed no later than Friday, February 10th 2023 and may only be filed by another candidate for that office, unless a candidate files unopposed.

Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted for the following offices:

Town of Canute, 3 Trustees

Town of Burns Flat, 3 Trustees

Town of Sentinel, 3 Trustees and 1 Clerk

Town of Corn, 3 Trustees and 1 Unexpired (2 year term)

Town of Rocky, 2 Trustees and 1 Unexpired (2 year term)

Town of Dill City, 3 Trustees and 2 Unexpired (2 year term)

City of New Cordell, Council Members for Ward 1-4, 1 Unexpired 2 year term for Ward 3, 1 Clerk, 1 Treasure, 1 Marshall, and 1 Mayor

Declaration of Candidacy forms can be downloaded from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections or by contacting your County Election Board office at 580-832-3658 or WashitaCounty@elections.ok.gov.

The Washita County Election Board is located at 111 E Main st Cordell OK and is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
