While acting as the Hospital Authority, the Clinton City Council approved an intrafund borrowing agreement with the City of Clinton for just over $1.5 million to purchase hospital equipment and to fund other hospital expenses.

The approved funds came during the Council’s latest meeting on Tuesday night.

City officials said the funds will be a loan from the City’s capital improvement fund until the results of the March 7 election that will determine if hospital trust funds will be available to use.

That election will have Clinton residents vote on a proposed amendment to a city ordinance that, if approved, would allow for hospital trust funds that were set aside in 1997 to be used for hospital operations.

The intrafund borrowing agreement approved Tuesday will supplement the $650,000 currently available from interest on the fund.

Currently the hospital does not have an operator for the hospital after AllianceHealth chose to end its contract with the city.

Turns out, the City of Clinton isn’t the only municipality AllianceHealth is cutting ties with.

AllianceHealth has informed the city of Woodward it will not renew the lease for the Woodward hospital when it expires on Nov. 30.
