With Oklahoma’s 59th Legislative Session beginning next month, lawmakers have been putting the final touches on bills they plan to introduce during this year’s gathering at the state capitol.

In an exclusive interview with Paragon Communications, Representative Anthony Moore (R-Clinton) previewed a few of his bills that he plans to introduce. Moore said one of his bills will waive liability risks on schools that chose to donate extra food to local food banks.

Moore said another piece of legislation would, if passed, give teachers in public schools paid maternity leave.

Moore also said he plans to introduce a bill written by a local high school student that would implement an alert system, similar to Amber or Silver Alerts, that would alert the public of an escaped individual from a local jail or prison.

Oklahoma’s 59th Legislative Session will begin on Monday, February 6.
