A first for the Beckham County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Derek Manning says the attempted robbery of not one, but two vehicles last week from an Elk City business netted two arrests and the recovery of both vehicles. He said the business owner was able to notify the Sheriff’s Department as to where one of the vehicles was with the help from the vehicle’s OnStar system.

Manning said one of the vehicles would wreck, however the second would stop with that wrecked vehicle in an attempt to let the driver inside. Before he was able to gain access to the truck, a Deputy would tackled the suspect and place him under arrest.

The driver of the second vehicle was arrested as well.

Court records showed that the two arrested were 32-year-old Thomas Williamson and 26-year-old Jasmine Zamora. Both were charged with, among other things, endangering others while attempting to elude police – a felony.

Bond for Williamson was set at $10,000. Zamora’s bond was set at $5,000.
