Public Celebration For Western Oklahoma’s Newest Airport Terminal Tomorrow

November 21, 2022

Press Release

The Weatherford Stafford Regional Airport, in partnership with the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission (OAC), the Federal Aviation Administration, and the City of Weatherford, will hold a special terminal opening and dedication ceremony in honor of the airport’s new and expanded airport Tuesday.

The celebration will include a special ceremony and ribbon-cutting including the presentation of colors by the Girl Scouts Service Unit 670 and the national anthem. State and local leaders expected to attend and speak at the ceremony include U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe, Lt. General Tom Stafford, State Sen. Paul Rosino, State Rep. Anthony Moore, Weatherford Mayor Mike Brown, Southwest Region Regional Administrator Rob Lowe, FAA, State Director of Aeronautics Grayson Ardies, and Director of Commerce Brent Kisling.

The $1.6 million project began in December of 2021 and took nearly 11 months to complete. The new terminal building was necessary because the current building, attached to the Stafford Air and Space Museum, would not accommodate the increasing air traffic that the airport was experiencing. The improvements will provide visiting pilots and passengers with a grand new entryway as they fly into Weatherford.

Tuesday’s event begins at 1 p.m.
