SWOSU Press Release
The 3rd annual Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) Charitable Hunt is September 16 in Devol.
The SWOSU Foundation, Inc., is happy to announce longtime SWOSU benefactors Kandi and Rick Nagel of Norman and MA+ Architecture are serving as the event’s presenting sponsors and major underwriters.
Kandi (Sullivan) Nagel is a 1998 SWOSU alumnae and past president of the SWOSU Alumni Association. Kandi is founder and president of Global Gear, Inc., a nimble and adaptive design and distribution firm with a focus on the promotional product business.
Rick Nagel currently is managing partner of Acorn Growth Companies, a middle market private equity firm focused exclusively on aerospace, defense and intelligence. Rick serves or has served on the boards of the Aerospace Industries Association, U. S. Air Force Association, State Chamber of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs. Rick is a Regent of the University of Oklahoma.
Since 1968, MA+ Architecture has been providing clients with professional architecture, planning, and interior design. MA+ has delivered highquality results for a variety of project types including education, athletics, historical preservation, places of worship, and government.
“Benefactors like Kandi & Rick Nagel and MA+ Architecture are so important to our students and programs,” SWOSU President Dr. Diane R. Lovell said. “The Presenting Sponsorship of our Charitable Hunt from the Nagels and MA+ Architecture enables us to meaningfully leverage SWOSU’s endowment to enhance student learning and faculty development.”
Proceeds from the hunt will be allocated to the Dr. Ken Rose Memorial Endowment benefiting the SWOSU Department of Parks & Recreation Management (PRM). SWOSU PRM is the premiere program of its type in the United States and enables SWOSU to produce the next generation of conservationists, sportsmen and sportswomen, wildlife law enforcement officials, park rangers and other outdoor and wildlife career professionals.
This unique event will be facilitated by BlackOak Farms, a full-service hunting operation which is integrated with traditional agriculture practices of farming and ranching. A sporting clay competition will be followed by a late afternoon/early evening guided dove hunt. Participants will be treated to a cocktail reception, dinner, live auction and entertainment following the hunt.
Host and co-host opportunities offering substantial sponsor benefits still are available. Registration for hosts and individuals is limited. Cocktail hour and dinner-only registration is also available for non-hunters who wish to join the fun with SWOSU alumni and friends. For information on sponsorships, to register to hunt, and to see the entire event schedule, please visit www. HuntWithSWOSU.com and contact SWOSU Associate Director for Institutional Advancement Clarke Hale at Clarke.hale@swosu.edu or (817) 707-6795.
