A Weatherford man and Las Vegas man are both wanted in Custer County after being charged with knowingly receiving or concealing stolen property.

According to court records, 37-year-old Caleb Ray Baker of Weatherford and 33-year-old Taaz Morlan of Las Vegas, NV were charged with the crime last Thursday in Custer County District Court after an investigation revealed that the pair allegedly attempted to sell a stolen vehicle at a salvage yard in Clinton.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the incident took place on August 10 when the suspects raised suspicion of an employee of the salvage yard when they tried to sell them a pickup without a title.

Once authorities were notified, the pair were found with the vehicle a short time later near the Clinton Indian Cemetery. They would tell a Custer County Sheriff’s Deputy that they were attempting to sell the vehicle for a lady that they did not know.

While interviewing the suspects, the vehicle’s VIN number came back as registered to a man out of Hinton.

Subsequently the vehicle was impounded and the suspects were let go after authorities gathered necessary information.

The court document stated that after speaking with more witnesses at the salvage yard, the deputy was told that one of the suspects was overheard allegedly saying that the vehicle was stolen.

Later, the sheriff’s department was notified that a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle that the suspects were in possession of was reported stolen out of Caddo County.

A warrant is out for the arrest of both Baker and Molan for possession of a stolen vehicle.
