Wet roads are apparently to blame for two western Oklahoma wrecks.

One of those wrecks has claimed the life of a Weatherford man.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, that wreck occurred in Caddo County, 1/10 of a mile east of Hinton on US-281 when at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, 43-year-old Garry T. Bull of Weatherford hit standing water and lost control of the 2008 Honda CRV he was driving. OHP said the vehicle would slide off the north side of the road before striking the end of a bridge rail.

OHP said Bull was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Another wreck occurred in Washita County that put a Clinton man in the hospital Monday night.

According to the accident report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 38-year-old Lomesh P. Patel of Clinton was traveling on OK-44, 3/10 of a mile north of Burns Flat when while driving his 2007 Lexus LS at 8:20 p.m. he departed the road to the right, came back on the road and departed the road again to the left. OHP said the vehicle rolled 3 times before landing on it’s wheels. The driver was ejected and pinned underneath the vehicle for an unknown amount of time before being freed.

OHP said Patel was transported to and admitted into OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was last listed to be in critical condition with head, arm, internal and external chest injuries.

OHP listed the cause of collision as being “overcorrection at an unsafe speed for weather conditions”.
