Two Elk City Actors Up For Awards

Two Elk City High School thespians have been nominated to win awards for their recent performances in the play “Newsies”.

Elk City High School’s production of “Newsies” is also a finalist for outstanding ensemble performance as well.

he 2022 Kelli O’Hara Awards will recognize 20 talented high school performers and shows and announce acting, musical and ensemble awards during an event Thursday.

The Kelli O’Hara Awards were created by OKC Broadway to celebrate outstanding achievement in high school musical theatre in the West, Northwest, and Southwest regions of Oklahoma. The program highlights the exceptional students and teachers who devote their time to making a home in their schools for the performing arts.

OKC Broadway and Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma will present the award winners, sponsored by Paycom, live at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Rose State College’s Hudiburg Chevrolet Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Outstanding actor finalists include, among others, Elk City’s Cade DeWitt and outstanding actress finalists include Hannah White of Elk City.

The top two winners will compete in New York at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, also known as the Jimmy Awards.

Finalists for outstanding ensemble performance along with Elk City include productions put on by Ada High School, Bethany High School, Edmond Memorial, and Mustang High School.
