Another county courthouse in the area has announced its plan to reopen.

The Greer County Courthouse plans to reopen on a limited basis starting May 18, as long as COVID-19 cases remain low.

County commissioners approved the move during their weekly meeting on Monday. Once reopened, the public will be required to wear a mask and continue to practice social distancing while conducting business at the courthouse.

The Mangum Star is reporting that county employees are currently gathering supplies such as disinfectant, hand sanitizer, and masks to prepare for close contact with the public once doors reopen.

In related news, the county is applying for a $58,000 grant from the Department of Justice to help the sheriff’s office with supplies and part time help with county patrol, due to a reported increase in crime.
