A scary few hours for an elderly Washita County woman on Saturday night.

According to the Clinton Daily News, the incident occurred Saturday night when Edelia Heck, along with her dog, wondered away from her home in Washita County near Weatherford around the 10 p.m. hour and was located nearly 11 hours later on Sunday morning, nearly a mile away from her home. The missing woman prompted a silver alert to be issued, and a massive search party that included the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, both Custer and Washita County Sheriff Departments, the Weatherford Fire Department and neighbors.

Heck was ultimately found by a neighbor on his property when he spotted the dog standing guard over her. The article quoted Weatherford Fire Chief Mike Karlin, saying she was showing signs of hypothermia, and flown to an Oklahoma City hospital.
