UPDATE: 6:06p.m. – Elk City Police Chief Eddie Holland has confirmed to Paragon Communications that the 5-year-old boy passed away due to the shooting.
Details are limited, but sources tell Paragon Communications that a child in Sayre was accidentally shot Friday afternoon.
According to a statement from Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning, the Sheriff’s Office, Elk City Police Department, and the Drug Task Force all assisted the Sayre Police Department in the investigation of the apparent accidental shooting of a child inside a parked vehicle in the 100 block of West Main Street in downtown Sayre.
Manning says the incident took place around 1:30p.m.
The name of the child has not been released at this time.
