An electrical fire appears to be to blame for a home catching fire early Friday night in Elk City.

According to a report filed by the Elk City Fire Department, crews responded to the fire in a one story home in the 1000 block of North Adams. When crews arrived they were met with heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the house, and smoke from both sides of the home. Elk City firefighters along with help from the Canute Fire Department were able to knock down the blaze, however the structure suffered significant damage.

The report stated that once the fire was knocked down, an investigation revealed there were multiple circuit breakers tripped and poor fitment in the panel with faulty wiring throughout – which is suspected to have caused the fire.

The report also noted that there were no injuries due to the fire.
