The Cordell City Council has approved the first process of assuring quality water will be used by Cordell citizens in the future.

During the latest regular meeting of the city council, City Manager J.C. Moser says the council approved a construction permit application to the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, Water Quality Division for an L.A.S. Chemical Feed System as presented by Myers Engineering.

Moser said this is the first step of the process.

Moser says if approved, the city will go to bid for the project and hopes to break ground on the new chemical feed system as soon as February.

In other Cordell city news, the council did approve to wave vendor fees for two upcoming holiday events. The first, Christmas in the Park, which takes place December 3.

The Elk City Commission is scheduled to meet in regular session Wednesday afternoon.

According to the agenda the commission will receive findings from the annual audit report from F.S.W & B CPA’s, and it appears the commission will continue the discussion of the fate of an apartment complex located at 415 N. State.

Wednesday’s City Commission meeting in city hall is at 2 p.m.
