It was de ja vu all over again for the Elk City Elks in their return to action after a two week quarantine due to covid-19 problems within the program. The Elks played the Clinton Red Tornadoes close for the first 3 quarters before Clinton pulled away in the 4th.
The score was 14-0 Clinton late in the 3rd quarter when the Elks found a spark….. Hughes to Price from 66 yards out pulled Elk City within a score with just 29 seconds left in the 3rd. The momentum was short lived on the very next play thanks to the electrifying Atrel Bryson…. Bryson’s TD slammed the door on a 35-7 Clinton win.
Atrel was fantastic with 208 yards on 14 carries with 3 TDs, all runs, from 35, 40, and 67. Levy Owens led the Elks on the ground, running for 67 tough yards on 12 carries. Clinton improves to 5-2 while Elk City falls to and even 3-3.
Around District 4A-1, Weatherford doubled up Bethany 28-14 and Newcastle scored late to beat Chickasha 27-20. This week’s District rankings from the coaches in 4A-1 look like this: Wford’s 1st, Clinton 2, Newcastle’s 3rd, Cache 4th, Bethany 5th, EC 6th, Chickasha 7th, and Elgin’s 8.
