Active cases of COVID-19 in Oklahoma are starting to rise, however one local county sees a case recover.

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s daily report, Oklahoma has seen an additional 55 active cases emerge in the past 24 hours. Currently there are 843 active cases in the state with 158 of those cases being hospitalized.

Locally Jackson County has seen another recovery. The county now has three active cases. Numbers went unchanged in the past 24 hours in Custer County with 15 active cases. There are two active cases in Kiowa County and one active case a piece in Beckham and Washita Counties.

Harmon and Roger Mills Counties are still COVID-19 free.

Statewide there were no additional deaths due to COVID-19 reported. The state’s current death count stands at 348.

According to health officials, at least 7,150 people in Oklahoma have now tested positive for the virus. Overall, new cases had been on a downward trend the past two weeks in the state.

The true numbers are likely higher because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and not feel sick.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms that clear up within weeks. But for others, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, the highly contagious virus can cause severe symptoms and be fatal. The vast majority of people recover.
