Custer County has seen an additional five active cases of Covid-19 added since Wednesday.

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s daily report, that jumps Custer County’s active case count to seven. Jackson County has seven active cases as well after two more cases were reported in that county. Washita County has seen an additional case added, bringing the number of active cases in the county to two.

Other area counties that went unchanged in today’s report include Kiowa and Beckham Counties with three active cases each, Greer County with with two active cases and Harmon County still with one active case.

Roger Mills County still remains to be the only county in Oklahoma that has yet to report a positive case of the virus.

For the second day in a row, the number of recoveries in the state outpaced the number of infected, thus bringing down the total number of active cases in Oklahoma.

Currently there are 3,096 active cases in the state, a decrease of 22 active cases when compared to Wednesday’s numbers.

Hospitalizations went down slightly as well. Health officials say there are 368 Oklahomans hospitalized due to the virus, a decrease of six when compared to Wednesday’s numbers.

Unfortunately there are six more deaths being reported, one occurring in the past 24 hours. The state’s death count now stands at 395.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms that clear up within weeks. But for others, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, the highly contagious virus can cause severe symptoms and be fatal.
