Local Wrecks In Western Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol in the region has been busy lately with multiple wrecks, including one in Custer County that two Yukon children admitted into the hospital.

That mishap occurred near Weatherford on Interstate 40 when the 2001 Ford Expedition driven by 29-year-old Tetra Billie of Yukon departed the roadway to the left due to unsafe tires, over corrected, then went off to the right side of the road, rolling 1 time. The crash ejected the driver, a 10-year-old male, and a 9-year-old female.

The vehicle had 4 other minors that remained in the vehicle during the crash. An 8-year-old male who was admitted into an Oklahoma City hospital last listed in stable condition. A 7-year-old female who was treated and released at Weatherford Regional Hosptial. A 9-month-old female who was also treated and released at Weatherford Regional Hospital, and a 2-year-old female who was admitted into an Oklahoma City hospital, last listed to be in serious condition. The driver was also admitted into an Oklahoma City hospital, last listed to be in serious condition. The two minors who were ejected were treated and released with minor injuries.

Another mishap occurred in Beckham County in the community of Carter on Monday morning.

According to the OHP 61-year-old Daniel Thompson of Carter was transported to an Oklahoma City hospital after losing control of his 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis in the Town of Carter, striking a tree. Officials reported that Thompson appeared to have suffered a medical condition moments before the crash. He was last listed to be in critical condition.

Also in Beckham County, Tuesday night a Carter man was hospitalized after hitting a deer with his motorcycle. According to the OHP 22-year-old Drake Dillon Vaught was transported to Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus after hitting the deer while riding his 2008 Harley Davidson northbound on State Highway 34, 5 miles south of Carter. Vaught was last listed to be in stable condition.
