Clinton Woman Assaults Officer – Charged

A Clinton woman was arrested last week after allegedly shoplifting at a local convince store and alluding police.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 32-year-old Kody Marie Thompson was allegedly observed on security footage committing the crime. Officers were tipped off that the suspect may have walked towards a local motel, where they would later find her.

The report stated that Thompson was asked to talk to the officer but refused, and would lead the officer on a foot pursuit. Officers would eventually catch and arrest her. During the arresting process, Thompson would become combative, kicking the arresting officer.

The affidavit stated that during the book in process at the Clinton City Jail, Thompson remained combative and would ultimately close a cell door on an officers hand.

Thompson was charged with assault and battery on a police officer and larceny. Her first court appearance is scheduled for May 6.
