Beckham County Sheriff’s Department Being Proactive Towards Virus

Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning spoke recently of how his department is dealing with the coronavirus. He says his biggest concern is for his staff who makes regular contact with the public, his jail staff who make contact with inmates, and he also has concern for the inmates too.

Sheriff Manning also says he’s instructed his deputies in the field to wear gloves and be mindful while on patrol.

Sheriff Manning says a lot of what the department is practicing is based off of sheriff departments in the state of Washington, where they have been hit hard by the virus. He says it is his hope they his department can stay ahead of the virus based on the model that the Washington Sheriff’s Department has created.
