A Tennessee woman was arrested in Beckham county recently after the semi trailer she was hauling contained a large amount of marijuana and THC items.

According to a probable cause affidavit 34-year-old Latasha Mathews of Millington, Tennessee was pulled over on December 23rd on Interstate 40 in Beckham county near the Oklahoma / Texas state line by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The report stated that during the safety inspection of the semi, the patrolman noticed the odor of raw marijuana coming from the tractor truck cab area. The court document stated that when the driver was asked for the key for the padlock securing the trailer’s rear doors, she stated that she did not have it. Troopers were able to cut the lock and gain access when, after inspection, found vacuum sealed plastic packages weighing approximately one pound each of marijuana. In total, the report stated troopers seized 86 pounds of marijuana along with a large amount of THC products, most of which were edibles. The affidavit stated that later, two bottles of open liquor were found in the cab of the truck.

The report went on to say that officials contacted the shipping company that was identified on the bill of loading. The report said that the shipping representative provided loading information for that particular truck, and stated that a red tag is used to seal the truck after loading. The report stated that there was no red tag found during the search process.

Mathews was arrested and booked into the Beckham County Detention Center and charged with trafficking in illegal drugs, unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, and transporting an open container of alcoholic beverage.

A preliminary hearing conference for Mathews has been scheduled for January 27th.
