A Burns Flat man was arrested recently after allegedly choking his fiancee.

According to a probable cause affidavit the victim went to an officer’s Burns Flat home to report the incident. During an interview the victim stated that her fiancee, 38-year-old Guy Lindsey Swendson became physical and choked her after an argument they had had previously in the day. Officers observed red marks around the victim’s neck and chest, and bruises on both arms. The victim also stated that Swendson allegedly threatened to kill her if she tried to leave. The victim stated that Swendson eventually took her phone and left with another woman.

The affidavit stated that later that day police made contact with the woman at the residence that they both shared. She stated to police that she left Swendson in Elk City because he tried to start a fight with her. The court record stated that she did witness the altercation between Swendson and the victim earlier in the day, but did not see how the incident started.

The court document stated that while police were at the residence, Swendson arrived and was arrested without incident, transported and booked into the Washita County Jail. Swendson was charged with domestic abuse by strangulation. His first court appearance is January 6th.
