A man who court records describe as homeless, was arrested last week after leading Weatherford police on a high speed pursuit through Custer County.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 29-year-old Devin Shane Davis was pulled over on December 15th in Weatherford after it was determined that the license plate did not match the vehicle he was driving. When instructed to turn the vehicle off and remove the keys from the ignition, the suspect took off leading police on a high speed pursuit with speeds reaching 90 miles per hour. The affidavit described the pursuit to wind through county roads, west of Weatherford before coming to an end when Davis crashed the vehicle into a creek bottom.

The court document said that no weapons or contraband were found in the vehicle, however the vehicle did have passengers, who Davis said had nothing to do with the incident.

It was later determined that the vehicle was stolen. The affidavit stated that Davis admitted to stealing the vehicle two months ago from Woodward, but would not say where he obtained the license plate.

Davis was arrested and charged with endangering others while eluding or attempting to elude police, unauthorized use of a vehicle, driving with a suspended license, and knowingly receiving stolen property.

An attorney date has been scheduled for Davis on December 30th.
