The Clinton city council met this week and received and approved the 2018-2019 audit report. City manager Mark Skiles says he was pleased with the report, describing it as a “clean audit”.

Skiles did say that the report did show that sales tax revenue was down $50,000 when compared to 2017-2018 however cash reserves for the city were up when compared to the previous year. The audit was conducted by Britton, Kuykendall and Miller CPAs.

In other news, Skiles says the water issue in Clinton is still being addressed. The issue arose earlier this month when city officials announced to discontinue using water from Clinton Lake due to an algae bloom that was causing odor and taste issues. Skiles says it will take some time for the water from Clinton Lake to flush out of the system, and water from Foss Lake to replace it.

Skiles says despite the taste and odor, there is no health concern associated with the water.
