A jury trial has been set for a Beckham County woman for allegedly punching her live-in boyfriend and making death threats.

Online court records at the time of the arrest of 25-year-old Lora Ann Perkins of Elk City showed Perkins had been charged with domestic abuse, assault and battery, a criminal misdemeanor. No charge is currently listed, however, Perkins was in court Wednesday with her attorney and requested a jury trial.

According to an Elk City Police report, officers were called to the Kings Inn motel in the January 23 domestic incident that allegedly began when Perkins wouldn’t let her boyfriend inside the residence.

The report says that the victim had been in the kitchen preparing his own lunch before he went to work when Perkins became angry because he had kept her awake. At one point, she allegedly punched him in the nose and made death threats towards him.

When the officers arrived around 2:30 am, their third call to the same room that night, they observed a fresh cut on the bridge of the victim’s nose. The report says Perkins allegedly admitted that she’d hit him.

When ordered by police to stand and be placed under arrest, she became hysterical. Officers repeated their orders, twice, but Perkins allegedly refused to obey and was tased on two separate occasions in order to get her compliance.

Attempting to place her in the car, she again refused and began kicking the right passenger window. Finally, police placed her in leg restrains with no further incident.

Perkins pleaded guilty last month in a criminal felony case of possession of a controlled, dangerous substance, resisting an officer and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was sentenced Wednesday in District Court and is due back in court on August 24 for the jury trial on the remaining charge.

Perkins also pleaded guilty in 2010 to a felony charge of driving under the influence and with a suspended license. A warrant was issued in September of last year for failing to pay her court costs following her plea in that case.
