The first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament are in the books, and it’s one of the most unexpected Sweet 16s of all time.

For only the second time in tournament history, #1 seeded Purdue fell in round one on Friday to 16th seed Farleigh Dickinson. FDU is the second 16 to win, joining UMBC, but they’re the first to win a play-in game before slaying a top seed. 15th-seeded Princeton is moving on to the second week of the tournament. The Tigers beat Arizona in round 1 and hammered Missouri in Round 2.

Kansas was the second #1 seed to fall in the first weekend. The Jayhawks were without their most important person, Head Coach Bill Self, and it showed in a one-point loss to Arkansas. Overall we have two 1 seeds left, Alabama and Houston.

3 conferences put multiple teams into the Sweet 16. The SEC and Big East have 3 apiece. The Big 12 got two.

The 16 teams that comprise the Sweet 16 come from 11 different conferences.

Games will get back on the court on Thursday with East and West Regional games. In the East bracket games inside Madison Square Garden, it’s Michigan St and Kansas St followed by Florida Atlantic and Tennessee. Out west in Vegas you get Arkansas vs Connecticut then Gonzaga and UCLA. Friday’s action will be in the South and Midwest Regions. The South bracket in Louisville features Alabama and San Diego St. The nightcap is between Creighton and Princeton. The Midwest regional is in Kansas City. You get top-seeded Houston against Miami followed by Texas and Xavier.
