A wanted Clinton man was arrested last week by police after a city resident recognized the man and was able to direct police to a home the suspect may have been staying in.

According to court records, 38-year-old Jerimiah Carlos Roque was arrested on April 10 in a home in the 400 block of South 10th Street when authorities from multiple jurisdictions converged on the home. There, they would find a 16-year-old female who would tell police that Roque was not inside the residence. However police were able to locate the suspect hiding on top of a hot water tank inside a closet.

The juvenile had allegedly tried to conceal the closet by hanging a blanket over the door and moving a washing machine by the door as well.

The juvenile was allegedly in possession of methamphetamines when police found her. She had to be transported to the hospital after swallowing the illegal narcotic. The affidavit stated that a large amount of marijuana was also located inside the home as well.

The juvenile was later arrested for harboring a fugitive. Roque was charged with child neglect and unlawful possession of drugs with the intent to distribute after two or more former felony convictions.

His first court date is scheduled for April 22. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 13.

Clinton police have been searching for Roque since March 15 when a victim reported that he was jumped by two males outside of a Clinton motel.

The defendant and a 17-year-old male were identified as suspects after police compared the victim’s story to video surveillance.

At that time, Roque had a warrant for battery or assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The report stated that along with Clinton Police, the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Weatherford Police Canine Unit assisted in the arrest.
