State lawmakers in the Oklahoma House and Senate released new congressional district maps on Monday that propose a geographical shift for House District 57.

The proposed change sees District 57 give up parts of Blaine and Canadian Counties, and obtain all of Roger Mills and Custer Counties. The district will also include the western half of Beckham County.

Cities encompassed by the district include Clinton, Weatherford, and Sayre.

H.D. 57 Representative Anthony Moore speaks about the change saying he looks forward to representing western Oklahoma, but is disappointed in losing all of Elk City – which now goes to H.D. 55.

Moore said with the change in location for the district, means new constituents that he’ll serve. With that comes the possibility of new issues that he says he’s willing to tackle.

The maps, along with new congressional and state Senate district maps, will be considered by the Legislature during a special session that’s set to begin November 15.
