A Clinton man is wanted after being accused of pointing a shotgun at another man recently.

According to court records, 27-year-old Ignacio Rios was charged with feloniously pointing a firearm – a felony – at another man on December 5 while walking past the man’s home.

The probable cause affidavit stated that the incident happened on December 5 when according to the victim, he was walking to his home from a neighbor’s house and noticed three men walking, one of which being Rios. The man told police that due to a previous confrontation with the men, he chose to avoid the men in an effort to avoid another confrontation. It was noted in the affidavit that the man admitted to grabbing a hatchet in an effort to defend himself if an altercation arose.

He stated that a short time later, the defendant would turn around and chambered a shotgun before allegedly pointing the gun at the victim. The man would tell police that he never rose the hatchet in a menacing manner that would cause Rios to feel threatened.

Police were later notified of the incident.

A review of home security footage would show the defendant point the gun at the victim.

A warrant for Rios’ arrest, along with the felony charge, were both filed on December 9.
