Elk City Leadership Class VII has been working on a class project to bring live stream video to the town of Elk City.

In a press release, the class has announced that it has launched a fundraising campaign to help fund the project.

The class said prior to the pandemic, the class had plans to raise money to be able to purchase a camera that would live stream to KWTV – News 9 and be known as the “Elk City Weather Cam”. However the class was forced to take a hiatus in March 2020 but were allowed to resume in June 2021.

The press release said that now the end goal is to have several live cams set up around town so that anyone with internet access will be able to pull up and see what is going on. This will also include any news stations that would like access to Elk City’s current weather conditions.

Class members said over the course of the next several weeks, the public will see Class VII members doing some fundraising as well as selling t-shirts to help raise money for the purchase of cameras and needed equipment. The press release stated that Class VII members will be shairing their project idea and selling t-shirts during Elk City’s Moonlight Madness event Thursday night, in front of the new Elk City Chamber of Commerce located in downtown Elk City.

The press release concluded by saying that if anyone would like to donate, to contact a Class VII member.
