The Elk City Commission is scheduled to meet for it’s mid-month meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon in City Hall.
An agenda item that’s been a hot topic for the community will be considered, and that’s regarding the possible development of a new clubhouse at the Elk City Golf and Country Club.
The previous clubhouse was destroyed by a tornado in May 2017.
City Manager Tom Ivester said a proposal was handed over to the Commission by the Elk City Golf and Country Club Association last Tuesday night at the conclusion of a “work study” held between the two parties.
Ivester said the proposal is a development and transfer agreement that would see the Association contribute between $1.2 and $1.75 million towards the project, with the city contributing an equal 50%. Ivester said the common question himself and Commissioners are receiving from the public is: where will the funds come from to fund the construction of the new clubhouse? Ivester said that there are two options – the general reserve fund or the CAPPs fund.
Ivester said there is roughly $3 million in the general reserve fund that could be freed up for the project.
Tomorrow afternoon’s meeting is scheduled to take place at 2p.m. inside City Hall.
