Court records show that eight men have been charged in Beckham County District court after the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, with help from the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office issued a search warrant at an apparent illegal marijuana grow operation in far western Beckham County in May.

Documents show all eight men received one felony charge each of cultivation of a controlled substance, while two others received additional charges of acquiring proceeds from drug activity and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, due to authorities finding over $76,000 and weapons during the May 4 raid.

If convicted of the cultivation charge – the suspects could see up to 10 years in a state prison along with additional fines.

Meanwhile, Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning says charges are still pending for the individuals involved in the county’s most recent raid that took place west of Elk City on Wednesday.

The Beckham County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, District 2 Drug Task Force, Elk City Police Department and Elk City Fire Department assisted the OBN with that raid that saw an estimated 2,500 marijuana plants confiscated and destroyed.
