Oklahoma’s dove season begins September 1 and it anticipates to be another busy season for local hunters thanks in large part to the wet summer the region just had.

Captain Jeff Headrick from the Oklahoma Wildlife Department reminds hunters to practice safety, especially when traveling with shotguns.

Captain Headrick also reminds hunters to comply with state hunting laws as well. He says a violation such as shooting across a roadway could be very costly.

Dove season in the state will be open through October 31.
