Clinton City Council To Discuss Next Step For Glancy Motel

The Clinton City Council is scheduled to meet in regular session tonight (Tuesday).

Items the council will consider include the purchase of equipment for the fire department as requested by fire officials. Items on the list include five self-contained breathing apparatus’ along with related equipment that would replace five older SCBA’s that were lost during the fire department’s last annual testing. In total, the projected purchase price for the equipment is just over $32,500. However it was indicated that if approved, the purchases would be a budgeted item with $33,000 already set aside.

The council will also consider surplussing four fire units that include a 1991 International wild-land truck, a 2008 Ford F-350 V10 wild land truck, a 1997 Ford F-350, and a 2005 Chevy Tahoe.

And lastly, the council will consider a request from the Clinton Economic Development Authority for funding not to exceed $300,000 for asbestos abatement expenses related to the redevelopment of the former Glancy Motel Buildings.

Tonight’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. inside Clinton City Hall.
