The total amount of federal funding area counties could receive thanks to the recently signed American Rescue Plan is becoming more clear.

According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the act will see $65.1 billion sent to counties in the United States – with Oklahoma counties receiving $678,409,819.

How does it break down for area counties?

Beckham County is expecting $4,245,854. Custer County is expected to receive $5,633,493. Washita County is expecting $2,120,305. Jackson County is expecting $4,764,665 and Woodward County is expecting $3,925,750.

It’s unclear what each county will spend the funds on, however there are a list of guidelines that they must follow that include, among others, spending money to provide for public health expenditures related to COVID-19, addressing the negative economic impact caused by the public health emergency, and replacing lost public sector revenue.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury officially launched the American Rescue Plan’s recovery fund May 10.

Counties must spend the funds by December 31, 2024.
