Elks, others begin the journey to State

by Aaron Kauk
We’re a day away from the opening week of the high school football playoffs all across Oklahoma.

The Elk City Elks are in the playoffs courtesy of an 8-2 regular season in which they finished 3rd in district 4A-1 with a 5-2 district record.

Elk City Fooball at Cushing

The Elks will hit the road tomorrow night for a first round clash against #4 Cushing. The Tigers finished second in 4A’s district two. Their lone defeat came at the hands of #1 Tuttle. Senior receiver and defensive back Mason Price stopped by to talk a little bit about the Big Elks preparation for Cushing so far this week…. When did Mason know this year’s version of the Elks would be contenders…..

If you can’t make it over to Cushing tomorrow night, no worries we’ll have you covered with live video streaming on bigelktv and radio coverage available on Kool94FM. Pregame will get going at 6:30 with the kickoff scheduled for 7.

Elsewhere around 4A-1, Clinton hosts Harrah, Bethany’s at Blanchard, and Newcastle travels to Tuttle.

Down in Class A, The Burns Flat-Dill City Eagles are in the playoffs after finishing 7-3. The Eagles won their final regular season game last week at Merritt to find their way into the playoffs. Burns Flat-Dill City will make a short trip down to Mangum to face the Tigers. Mangum won district 2 with a 7-2 record. These two met in the non-district with Burns Flat-Dill City defeating Mangum 56-38. Kickoff down in Mangum is tomorrow night at 7.

Elsewhere in District A-1, Fairview will host Cordell, Hooker welcomes Boone-Apache, and Minco hosts Mooreland.
