Parts of western Oklahoma picked up a tremendous amount of rainfall over the weekend, after heavy, and sometimes severe, thunderstorms rolled through the region.

However, experts say more rain is in the forecast.

KOCO Meteorologist Sabrina Bates says some parts of the area could see another two inches of rain between now and the end of the week.

The National Weather Service out of Norman has much of western Oklahoma under a flood watch until 1:00pm Tuesday.

3-Day rainfall totals in the area are impressive with the Butler / Foss Lake area receiving just over 5 and a half inches. Elk City along with Clinton and Weatherford shows to have received just over 3.2 inches of rain, and Cheyenne receiving just over 3.8 inches of rain. The real “winners” of the rain event appear to follow along the I-44 / Will Rogers Turnpike corridor with consistent rain totals ranging anywhere between 4 inches and 6.5 inches.

The Town of Perkins is showing to have received just over 7 inches of rain over the weekend.
