An Elk City man in jail and awaiting trial for rape and kidnapping charges has had an additional felony charge of intimidating a witness levied against him recently.

Court records show 28-year-old Schyler Jordan Nidey received the charge last week after authorities monitored him making a phone call from the Beckham County Jail to 38-year-old Heather Nicole Dean. In the phone call he and Dean allegedly conspired against a person who is a witness for the state in the trial against Nidey. Nidey was allegedly heard stating to Dean that he was going to call the witness and threaten her for talking to authorities.

A short time later Nidey called the witness and proceeded to threaten her.

Court records show along with Nidey receiving the additional charge, Dean received one felony count of conspiracy for her role in the crime.

Nidey was arrested last April after being accused of choking and raping a woman inside an Elk City apartment. Nidey was also accused of holding the woman inside the apartment against her will.

Nidey has plead not guilty to the crime and is currently awaiting a jury trial that is scheduled for October 25.
