An Elk City man was arrested recently and charged with, among other things, first degree rape after a woman accused the man of the crime last week.

According to a probable cause affidavit, an Elk City Police detective was contacted on April 16 in reference to the possible rape that occurred at an Elk City apartment complex in the 400 block of N. State Street.

During the course of an investigation, the detective spoke with the victim where she would say that 27-year-old Schyler Jordan Nidey had choked and raped her inside the apartment. The victim told the detective that she was held at the apartment by Nidey against her will.

The detective noted that the victim appeared to have red marks around her neck and possible bruising on her right eye. The detective also wrote in the court document that a nurse who had examined the victim at Great Plains Regional Medical Center had informed the detective there there were injuries consistent with sexual assault.

The next day, Nidey was located, detained, and taken to the Elk City Police Department. While there, police would find a small bag with white crystals in it, in Nidey’s possession. The crystals later tested positive to be methamphetamine.

During an interview with Nidey, he would acknowledge knowing the victim, however denied the allegations against him.

Nidey was arrested and, along with the first degree rape charge received one charge of kidnapping and bringing contraband drugs into a penal institution.

Bond for Nidey was set at $500,000. His first court date is scheduled for May 3.
