During a special meeting of the Clinton City Council, the council approved a feasibility study for the possible construction of a water pipeline that would be placed between Clinton and Weatherford.

The Weatherford City Commission met Tuesday morning and approved the study as well.

According to Clinton City Manager Robert Johnston, the historic agreement between the two municipalities is the first step towards water resiliency for the cities in the event of a drought or emergency.

Johnston said the study will cost each city nearly $29,000 and will be funded through monies obtained through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
