A 14-year-old boy has been hospitalized after leading police on a pursuit west of Mangum in Greer County Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the boy from Altus led the Mangum Police on the high speed pursuit down a dirt road 2.5 miles west of Mangum when the juvenile lost control of the 2003 Ford F-150, departed the road the left and struck a fence. OHP says the pickup then rolled two times before coming to rest in a pasture.

Troopers say the teen was taken to the Mangum Regional Medical Center and admitted in fair condition with head and trunk external injuries.

According to the OHP report, the teen was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The report does not state why Magnum police initiated the pursuit.
